An Expert Talk on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was organized by the Electronics and Communication (EC) Department of Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar on 6th September 2024. The session was conducted from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Room No. 207, New Building, and was attended by all 43 EC Department students. The event began with an introductory note and welcome address by Shri A. M. Bhatt & Shri R. K. Borsaniya sir, Event Coordinator. They introduced the speaker and highlighted the relevance of Intellectual Property Rights in the field of EC engineering. The speaker, Shri Deep Ajmeriya, an accomplished alumni of the EC Department & 2 Approved Patents Holder, delivered an insightful and relatable talk focusing on the scope and importance of IPR in an engineer’s career. Being a former student of the institute, his journey resonated strongly with the audience. He explained: What IPR is and why it matters How students and young innovators can protect their ideas Real-life examples of startups and student innovations using IPR Career opportunities in IPR and the importance of awareness early in the academic journey The session was interactive, and students asked questions about patents and copyrights, particularly in relation to final-year projects and circuit designs. The speaker encouraged students to think creatively and assured them that the SSIP Cell at the institute would support patent filing for genuine and innovative ideas. He also explained how he got the same kind of support from his bachelor’s college and how that support and mentoring was helpful for his innovation.
