Industrial Visit to Bharadia Engineering Industry (Tool Engineering)

On September 21, 2024, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar, organized an industrial visit to Bharadia Engineering Industry, located at 9, Patel Colony, Jamnagar, for 56 fifth-semester diploma students. Conducted from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the visit aimed to provide practical exposure to tool engineering concepts, including jigs, fixtures, and cutting tools, aligning with the curriculum. Faculty members Mr. V. R. Maniar, Mr. S. P. Kotak, Mr. D. B. Harsora, and Mr. K. M. Chavda accompanied the students to ensure a structured learning experience.

At Bharadia Engineering Industry, a prominent exporter of brass bearing cages, students observed the manufacturing process from raw material preparation to final quality checks. The industry showcased various jigs and fixtures, demonstrating their role in enhancing machining accuracy and efficiency. Students learned about cutting tool materials, such as high-speed steel (HSS) and tungsten carbide, and their applications in turning, milling, and drilling. The use of carbide inserts was highlighted for their durability and precision, offering insights into modern tool technology. The visit included detailed explanations of each production stage, emphasizing the importance of precision tools in maintaining quality standards. Students actively engaged with industry engineers, gaining clarity on the practical applications of theoretical concepts. The visit bridged classroom learning with real-world practices, deepening students’ understanding of tool engineering and its role in manufacturing. The Mechanical Engineering Department expressed gratitude to Bharadia Engineering Industry for facilitating this educational experience, which enhanced students’ readiness for careers in precision manufacturing.
