Orientation Program 2024-25

On July 22, 2024, the Mechanical Engineering Department at Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar, conducted an orientation program for 235 newly enrolled first-semester students of the 2024-25 academic year. Held at the institute’s campus, the event welcomed students and their parents, fostering a supportive introduction to the academic journey. The program began with a prayer, setting a positive tone, and featured motivational addresses by Principal A. M. Patel and Department Head S. P. Gori, who inspired students to embrace their studies with enthusiasm. Departmental faculty and final-year students actively participated, sharing critical insights into academic procedures and campus resources to guide newcomers effectively.

The orientation covered essential topics to ease students into their academic and professional environment. Faculty provided detailed information about the college campus, student section, library facilities, and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) guidelines. Sessions highlighted campus-to-corporate training, placement statistics, and the counseling and mentoring cell, emphasizing holistic development. The Siemens Center of Excellence was showcased as a hub for advanced technical training, underscoring the department’s commitment to practical learning. Discussions on discipline reinforced the importance of a structured academic approach. Final-year students shared their experiences, offering practical advice to help freshers navigate challenges. The program aimed to familiarize students with the department’s resources, academic expectations, and opportunities for growth, ensuring a smooth transition into their diploma studies.
